Digestion in Octopus
A Dumbo Octopi diet usually contains crustaceans like polychaetes, pelagic copepods, isopods, and amphipods. When the Dumbo Octopus is on the hunt for food they also eat zooplankton that floats with the tide. Unlike most octopi the Dumbo Octopus swallows their food whole. They swallow their food whole due to the fact that they do not have a radula which is toothy tongue to break down food. Instead they have a poisonous saliva which is released to break down the food they just consumed.
